The Ancient Radnian Empire
Radnian Archeology
The Radnian homeworld, Amsaria (Mivdia-4), was a temperate world around the Class M Star Mivdia. The Radnians developed hyperjump technology in 4726 RC (Radnian Calendar), which grew over the course of centuries into the massive Radnian Empire, stretching across the Five Galaxies in which millions of cultures were merged into a single, human-dominated civilization.
Attel, which is considered the cradle of Radnian civilization, has three archaeological sites that are candidates for Mivdia, the Radnian home star system. Two of the star systems, Retevina, and Lekata, are situated in northern Attel. The third is Minidia in west central Attel. Many amateur and professional historians favor Minidia because its name is similar to the name of the Radnian home star system. Others, professional historians, and treasure hunters prefer Lekata as the Radnian home system because of its giant temples. Retevina is the choice of some archaeologists for its capital city mound. Archaeological expeditions in the star systems of Attel have revealed the presence of Radnian Empire garrisons and city worlds dating back some 400,000 years.
Radnian history profoundly influenced the civilizations of the local galactic cluster. Radnian imperial policy was to "Make the Universe Radnia." The Radnians first coined the phrase "The Five Galaxies," which denoted the five galaxies in the local cluster that were interconnected via Radnian foldgates. Foldgate technology was the driving force behind Radnian military, commercial, and political expansion.
Between the 111th and the 170th centuries RC, Proto-Ffawe Naplians established contacts with Attel. In the 188th and 189th centuries, RC Proto-Naplian colonies were built in the inner star clusters of Lower Attel. A prolonged decline began in the 183rd century RC when the Estra portion of the Empire split in two in the 195th century RC. The Rimward Empire, under the pressure of the Anakazi, a pre-Borthan empire, eventually dissolved in the 203rd century RC when its last emperor was overthrown. The Leeward half of the Empire survived for another 200 centuries.
